Now I have to admit that I stole this idea from a friends of ours who got married in 2012. But since it is such a good idea I thought I should pass it on to you too. Home-sewn wedding napkins!
When we found out we would need to hire napkins for the pricely sum of £1 per napkin we decided it would be a win win idea (win for niceness and money). Though admittedly the time factor certainly wasn't considered in that equation.
Luckily for us Mr Wolf & Ink's mum is fantastic at sewing and kindly obliged us by making the napkins (all 120 of them). It was so lovely and we had a great shopping trip to buy the fabrics. We went to Goldhawk Road to the fabric shops - they are amazing if you ever get a chance definitely go it is amazing what you can pick up.
We decided on 5 different patterns wanting something a bit retro and similar to a liberty print, though not for the same price tag. My personal favourites are the bird print and the little yellow flowers (it reminds me of a dress I had as a little girl). We wanted to stick to bright spring colour schemes, to go with the wedding, so chose greens yellows and blues.
They were a huge hit and lots of guests ended up taking them home as a little keepsake. If you are good at embroidery you could even sew peoples names on and use them as place settings!
